» Mythology:
Selene is one of the original moon goddesses of the Greek pantheon. The daughter of two titans Hyperion and Theia, she also had two siblings, her brother Helios and her sister Eos. In the roman pantheon her name was Luna. She was also referred to as Mene which meant month. She is depicted as being very beautiful with a round face and as having luxurious hair. She is shown with a crescent upon her brow that either depicts the crescent moon or the horns of the two oxen who pull her chariot. Sometimes a billowing veil makes up the crescent instead.
Selene was the personification of moon, just as Helios was the sun. She was depicted moving across the night sky in a chariot pulled either by two white oxen or by two winged silver or white horses. She was sometimes was also shown in art to be riding a white bull or a horse sidesaddle across the heavens. Usually art showed her arising from the ocean while her brother descended into it.
She held dominion over the moon, the feminine aspect, childbirth and inspiring love. She also presided over the months. Some might also attribute theft to her because of the disappearance of the moon during the new moon. Selene was also considered a triple aspect goddess with her counterparts being Artemis the virgin moon or waxing moon and Hectate who represented the crone or waning moon. Selene herself represented the full moon. As a representation of the full moon, she was attributed with brightness and radiance and with childbirth and pregnancy.
Selene also had power to pierce illusions and mask reality. This is is most likely due to the waxing and waning of the moon. She also influenced dreams, purportedly giving people prophetic insight or intuition gained from 'sleeping on it'. She was also thought to watch with vigilance over mortals during the night. Later art showed her bearing a torch to signify her brightness and all seeing nature.
Towards the end of her dominion, she was also attributed with the power over lunacy. She was implored to drive reason from their mind and to make them forget clear thought so that they would be driven by madness. To this day people claim that the full moon causes people to behave abnormally.
Moonstones were sacred to Selene along with Monday. Silver and white were seen as her colors.
The myth she is most famously known for is her love affair with Endymion. Some stories claimed he was a shepherd and others say he was a king. All variations claimed that he was beautiful and that Selene fell in love with him. Because Endymion was mortal, she implored Zeus to spare him from death. Moved by her words Zeus gave Endymion the option undergo eternal sleep where he would stay ageless and deathless. Endymion accepted and Selene would then visit him nightly in his cave. From him,she conceived 50 daughters which were said to represent the 50 lunar months between the olympiad.

» Current Name:Rosemarie Roberts
» Birthdate: 04/18/1984
» Height: 5'6
» Distinguishing Marks: A couple scars on her hands, arms and legs all from leading an active life.
» Family: {mother & father}Heather Roberts and Tyler Roberts; {marital status/spouse} Single; {siblings}Marjorie; {children}Olivia Lynn Roberts--;{pets}American quarter Horse: Cleo , Australian Shepherd: Midge (Midget)
» Occupation: Ranch Hand, trail ride guide, rodeo circuit rider
» Currently Residing In: Houston, Tx.
» Ability: Selene's powers manifested at a young age in the form of intuition and psychic dreams. She cannot control her visions since they come to her in dreams, but she trusts her gut instincts almost to a fault, relying upon them more than logic or reason. Thus far her intuition has not led her wrong, except for the rare times when she chooses to outright ignore it. If she is drunk, her intuition becomes a little fuzzier and it makes her harder to react, but she still feels it on an instinctual level.
The psychic dreams she has are always vague. They do not predict the future so much as offer solutions or ideas that guide her ahead of time. Every so often she will have a dream that is a vision of the future, but usually it is focused only around her and the things that she cares most about. Upon waking, most of her psychic dreams fade away, leaving only a solution or an idea in her mind.
Moonlight always reveals to her the truth in any obfuscation. She can see things for what they are, regardless of how good at hiding who or what they are. If for example it is an invisible being, then she cannot see them, but can see the way moonlight plays off of them revealing a blurry outline. No illusion or trick of the mind can hold up to her so long as there is moonlight to see by.
As for her own control over illusions and creating them, she can great more and more powerful illusions as the moon nears fullness. At the full moon she able to trick almost anyone into believing that her illusions are 100% real and can fool all 5 senses (the sixth sense, intuition is harder to fool and people might have a feeling that something is not right if they have a strong intuition). If her illusion is cast under the light of a full moon, it can affect a group of people within a certain radius of her. People within 5 feet will be completely ensnared with all 5 senses and the ability decreases ever 5 feet for a 20 foot radius. As the range decreases, so too does the ability, effecting fewer and fewer senses. The stronger the senses, the less they are affected. For people who lack a sense, (blind, deaf, etc) then obviously an illusion based on tricking the sight or sound would not work on them.
As the full moon wanes, so too her powers until at the new moon she can barely make an illusion that would trick the eyes. Moonlight itself always strengthens her illusions but it is not required for the illusion to work. The longest her illusions can last at most is during the 3 days when the moon is at it's fullest. Daytime can break the illusion, especially if someone suspects they are ensnared.
» History:
Past lives: 1650-1724 Isabel Cardwell a hedge witch of no real renown, she served as the local midwife to a small area of villages. She also did minor acts of divination and predicted the futures of a handful of locals. She was considered to bring good luck to pregnant women. Those under her care rarely miscarried or had stillborn children.
Her most recent past life was as that of Emily Judith Wilcox who lived from June 1st 1860- until her death of old age in February 23rd 1931, She toured in minor Wild West shows as a trick rider with her father who pretended to be a Sioux chieftain by the name of “Black Cloud”.
Although she was very good at riding, she did not have the skill to use a gun like the more famous Annie Oakley and therefore never rose to any great fame. When not riding in shows, she would preform fortune telling sideshows that were surprisingly insightful.
At the age of 20 she retired and married a salesman named Jason Miller where the had three daughters and four sons. They settled down in Enid Oklahoma where they ran a local general store.
Current life: Rosemarie, or Rosie as she prefers to be called, was born to Heather and Tyler Roberts as their second daughter, two years after the birth of their first daughter Marjorie. She grew up in Texas on her parent's ranch, but spent a lot of time with her grandparents Jean and Bill Roberts. At a young age she got into junior rodeo, discovering that she had a knack for that sort of thing. At first it was her gut instincts directing her, but as she got older she began to have dreams that either bespoke of her success or failure at competitions.
The older she got the stronger her intuition became. It soon got to the point where she stopped second guessing herself or her actions and just began to go with the flow of them. Her dreams also began to grow more accurate and prophetic. Most of the time however, whatever psychic or prophetic dreams she had were quickly forgotten upon waking, unless they were very important or pertinent to the things that she cared about the most. Solutions to problems that bothered her the day before also began to come to her upon waking. She began to call them her little 'brain sparks and relied on them more than once to help her do her homework, or get her out of a sticky situation.
In time, she began to be intrigued by her prophetic dreams and her gut instincts, especially after she learned that no one else in her family shared the same sort of intuition and insight that she possessed. Driven by a need to know, she began to do research into what might be the cause of her unique abilities. At first she looked up famous psychics in history, assuming that she must be descended from someone who had similar gifts. Her research turned up little historical documentation to support such a theory and she soon dropped the research.
Not long after, while doing a school project on the moon, Rosie hit upon a wiccan website chock full of spiritual information. Intrigued, she kept reading and soon discovered information on the triple moon goddesses. Immediately, she felt a connection to what she read and soon enough, she was devoting all her free time to studying the moon and the different aspects of the three goddesses. She also studied the moon itself, hoping to glean some insight as to why she felt so drawn to the moon. In the end, her perseverance paid off when she discovered the myth of Selene and Endymion. Without understanding fully, she knew without a doubt that she had a deeper connection to Selene. It would be years before she fully understood that connection however.
For a time, her parents thought that she wanted to be an astronaut, but she quickly dissuaded them of that idea when she started taking a much more active interest in horses when her grandparents bought her a horse for her 16th birthday. That horse was a 2 year old American Quarter Horse of champion bloodlines named "Cleopatra's Revenge". Rosie took to calling the horse Cleo for short.
As a natural on horse back, she envisioned little else in her life aside from riding and entering into rodeos. Her parents were not amused, figuring that it would only be a matter of time before she either was hurt doing professional rodeo or that she began to loose more than she won. They insisted that she at the very least try for some degree in college. In order to make them happy, she started online schooling for a degree in farm and land management as well as Equine care and husbandry. Although she didn't do remarkably brilliant in her studies, she passed, earning her a business degree in Agriculture. Although she sees it as rather pointless to have, the degree has come in handy from time to time, especially when she proves herself not to be some ignorant redneck hick.
Because she is in the rodeo circuit, and she traveled by herself most of the time. Her sister Marjorie got for her 20th birthday An Australian Shepherd to keep her company on the road. Rosie named the dog Midget but calls it Midge for short. Aside from Midget, she also had her horse Cleo for company up until she turned 25. Then the unexpected happened and one of Rosie's brief flings resulted in her becoming pregnant. On July 19th 2009, she gave birth to her daughter Olivia Lynn Roberts. At first her family was scandalized not only by her giving birth to a child out of wedlock, but also by her insistence upon keeping the child. Furthermore, she refused to reveal to any of them just who the father was. Currently, even her child's father is unaware of her existence.
During the off season for the rodeo, she returns home to Houston where she works at her parent's ranch as an all around ranch hand and trail guide for people taking guided horseback tours through parts of their ranch lands. She also works diligently to raise her five year old daughter as a single mother.
» Personality:
Rosie is very self assured. She knows what she wants in life and usually does not let much get in her way. Some might call it arrogance, but she sees it as confidence in herself and in her natural gut instinct. She can also be viewed as being stubborn as she does not waver easily in her decisions once her mind is made up.
Although she is in a competitive sport, Rosie herself is not all that competitive. She does like to win and win big, but at the end of the day she isn't out to beat anyone or anything. She is in it for the thrill and the adventure as well as the chance to see new places and meet new people. Just being able to participate alone is sometimes enough for her.
Because of her abilities, she is very intuitive, going more with what she feels she knows than with what she actually knows. On a day to day basis, this makes her uncanny at snap decisions. However as far as book learning goes, some would almost view her as being a little "slow". The truth is she does have book smarts but she does not use them much and feels that book smarts don't apply to her current lifestyle. Rosie doesn't begrudge others for having book smarts because she knows that they are just as important as gut instincts.
She is also a person of action, unable to stand by and be idle at any given time. Rosie likes to be active from traveling cross country to constantly keeping herself busy. Downtime can happen when she is sick, injured or dead. Sometimes her need to be active makes her impatient, which can in turn make her a bit snappy. This is especially true if she is prohibited from doing whatever it is she wants to do at the time. Boredom in her eyes is a worse fate than death.
Otherwise, she is usually quite friendly and genuinely nice to people, unless they are rude or offensive to her. She is also a horrible flirt, treating it almost as if it was an art form. He favorite thing to do is to get a reaction from someone, regardless of gender. Almost all of her flirting is harmless and even unintentional. She isn't even aware all the time that she is even flirting with anyone. Most of the time she uses phrases like "sugar", or "sweetie", or "honey" for unintentional flirting. When she is intentionally flirting her phrases tend to shift towards phrases like "babe", "stud" or "lover".
Like most 'southern belles' she is nice and polite until riled up, then she has the potential of becoming quite spiteful. Usually, Rosie does her best to head negative emotions off at the pass, knowing full well that once her blood is up she can be irrational or unreasonable. Her moods, especially during the full moon, can become quite mercurial, slipping from one side of the spectrum to the next. Not even she can fully predict how she will think or feel under the full moon's influence. Most of the time, she becomes oddly promiscuous, seeking out old and new lovers alike. Such flings never last long unfortunately because she is always traveling.
Since her chosen profession does no allow her to stay in one place for long, Rosie tries not to attach herself too strongly to anyone other than her family. Unfortunately, she doesn't always see eye to eye with her parents since they keep expecting her to retire from the circuit now that she is 'getting older' and has a daughter to look after. Aside from Olivia, she gets along best with her Grandmother Jean and occasionally with her older sister Marjorie. When she is lonely, she will often seek comfort by bar hopping or visiting any of the old flames in the area. She holds no expectations towards settling down with anyone in particular, but she does hope to find someone who might one day share her love of travel and the road, and who will also look after her daughter with love and devotion.
As far as being a mother goes, Rosie isn't the world's greatest mom, since she avidly refuses to give up the rodeo circuit and therefore either leaves her daughter in the care of her family or in rare cases, takes Olivia with her on tours. She is fiercely protective of her child and dotes on her lovingly whenever she can. She also does try to provide the best for her daughter. Most of her winnings are put away towards a trust fund for Olivia in the event that something does happen and she can no longer compete or worse, if she ends up dying.
As Olivia gets older, she is also beginning to question more and more her decision to remain a single mom on the circuit. Recently, her indecision has also begun to affect her intuition making it harder to trust her gut feelings. So far there has been no real negative side effect to this happening as she is still a skilled rider with a horse that she has ridden on for years, but there is an uncharacteristic nervousness setting in.
Even before she discovered that she had a connection to the moon, Rosie has always enjoyed the night. She loves to camp out under the stars and go for midnight trail rides. She also tries to do all her long distance traveling at night, finding it to be the most soothing time for her. AS a night owl, she hates early mornings, but understands that they have a function and a purpose in this world, especially where the rodeo is concerned. In the past, she was more likely to stay awake an entire night to get something done in the morning, than she was to wake up early. Having her daughter has changed some of her habits, but the night remains her constant solace.
» Other Notes: Rosie has to always be busy in some shape or form. Usually it's physical like fidgeting with something in her hands, bouncing her leg while sitting or chewing gum. Barring a physical distraction, a mental one will work, but not as well.
She has a 4 year old daughter named Olivia who has the PB of Julia Wróblewska. Born July 19th 2009 she stands about 3' tall.
As far as her sexual orientation goes, she is straight, but she can still look another female over and appreciate the beauty they possess.
She drives a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 silver truck with a white 2 horse trailer attached to it.
» Sample Journal: Maybe mom and dad are right. Maybe I should give up the rodeo and take on a more reliable job back home. It's getting hard to stay on the road with Olivia getting older and bigger now. I'm gonna need to start thinking about schooling soon and providing a much more stable environment than what the rodeo circuit has to offer. But at the same time, it's hard to give up something I love so much. Then again, Cleo is getting on in years, as is Midge. It might be best if I did hang up the spurs.
For once my gifts has little to offer. I've been having other dreams lately, and my usual knack of knowing seems to be halter-skelter to how it usually goes. I guess I'll muddle through it all somehow. I gotta say, it's funny how just when I need it most, it seems to be deserting me. I wonder if it's because I'm sorta hesitant to know what the best thing to do should be.
» Sample Log: Rosie ran a hand through her hair, feeling the sweat and grit in it from the hot dust swirling around the outdoor arena. she gave her head a quick shake and then slammed her hat back on, aware that it was part of the 'western' charm and that appearances were everything. Looking around, she spotted Olivia sitting next to her great gramma Jean. Like her Olivia couldn't sit still for long and she was already beginning to bounce excitedly in her seat.
Suppressing a smile, Rosie walked over to where they were sitting down at the front row and knelt before them both.
"You behaving sugar cube?" She asked her daughter seriously, glancing over to Jean to verify if her daughter's enthusiastic nodding was true or not. Jean smiled back and nodded, hugging her great granddaughter close.
"She's just like you at that age." She said grinning and winking.
Rosie groaned dramatically and rolled her eyes, looking back at her daughter. "Before I know it you'll be wanting a horse and to ride in competitions too. Won't you?" With a playful grin, she reached out and began to tickle her daughter, earning excited squeals from her.
"A'course mamma I wanna be just like you!" she squealed flailing and giggling.
Rosie sat back on her haunches and looked at her daughter. For a moment her face grew serious as her blue eyes met her daughter's brown ones. Although it wasn't quite the usual intuitive feeling she got in her gut, she knew immediately that no matter what it took, she would do everything in her power to make her daughter's dreams come true.
"Well then sweet child o' mine, it looks as if you're gonna have to start riding lessons when we go back home."
